The Joint Commission has announced the appointing of Isabel Hoverman, MD, MACP, as 2011 chair of the Board of Commissioners.
Dr. Hoverman has served on the Board since 2003 and is a board-certified internist in private practice in Austin, Texas, according to a news release from The Joint Commission.
Gerald Shea will serve as vice chair. Mr. Shea, who is assistant to the president at the AFL-CIO, has served as a public representative to The Joint Commission Board of Commissioners for the past 13 years.
The other officer appointments for 2011 are as follows:
- Treasurer — Rebecca Patchin, MD, a former nurse who is now an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist in Riverside, Calif.
- Secretary — Craig W. Jones, FACHE, president of the Oklahoma Hospital Association in Oklahoma City.
- Executive Committee Member-at-Large — LaMar S. McGinnis, MD, FACS, senior medical advisor and liaison to the American Cancer Society in Atlanta and will serve in 2011 as vice chair of Joint Commission Resources, an affiliate of The Joint Commission.
- Executive Committee Member-at-Large — David A. Whiston, DDS, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon from Falls Church, Vir., who formerly served as chair of The Joint Commission Board of Commissioners.
